The First Church of Barre Universalist makes available its unique facilities for community use.
Because the Unitarian Universalist church draws its teachings and practice from a wide variety of religious traditions the public generally feels very comfortable here.
The church Sanctuary has excellent acoustics, seating for approximately two-hundred people, and a beautiful and warm atmosphere. The Eleva Chamber Orchestra regularly holds an annual concert there and this is what Willie Docto, the Founder and General Manager says about performing in the Sanctuary:
“The Eleva Chamber Players, a 15-member string orchestra of professional musicians, loves the acoustics at the First Church of Barre Universalist. As an orchestra that performs without a conductor, we have to rely on visual and auditory cues from each other. The Church's excellent acoustics not only allows us to hear each other clearly, it also enhances our sound. The result is that the audience experiences music that envelopes them like a blanket providing comfort, warmth and joy.”
The sanctuary may also be used for weddings by people from any religious or non-religious background and for speakers.
The lower “Vestry” room can seat approximately eighty people and provides a very good setting for meetings, talks, meals, and related events. It also has access to a good kitchen.
Behind the church is the former “Parish House” which now houses a nice comfortable meeting room that seats up to approximately fifteen people.
If you want to see any of the facilities or make a request for use you may do so by contacting the church secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 802-479-0114. The rental fee varies depending on the type of use, length of time, etc.
